Individual therapy approach
Therapy is an opportunity to increase our self awareness and to enhance our agency as individuals. Nicole practices psychodynamic psychotherapy, which centers around an understanding that there are unconscious forces that inform how we live and what we feel. By becoming aware of our unconscious influences, we can improve our lives and achieve greater clarity. Therapy is a collaborative effort between client and therapist, who can work together to define and better understand the problems that bring the client into therapy.
Nicole's approach centers around active listening and posing thoughtful questions to help the client reflect on his or her experience. She works from a developmental lens, emphasizing the impact of development not only in childhood, but throughout the lifespan. In addition, Nicole recognizes the importance of attending to emotional experience. Emotion can be at the heart of therapy work; therapy can help us to become open to the different emotions we may feel and to become more curious about ourselves.
Nicole strives to understand psychological problems from a whole person approach, rather than as a collection of symptoms. Therapy sessions may be more or less structured (i.e. planned and goal oriented), depending on what works best for each client. Some clients may appreciate a more unstructured approach that allows them to focus on what comes to mind each session; others may find they benefit more by centering the session around key themes. Nicole makes a practice of checking in with each client throughout the course of therapy to tailor her approach.
Fees and Billing
A therapy session lasts 45-50 minutes. Depending on the client's needs, they may meet once or twice a week. Nicole will also collaborate with outside healthcare providers when needed. Nicole's office is located at 1601 Walnut St. in Center City, Philadelphia. She also offers telehealth services, depending on individual circumstances.
Nicole's fee for a 45 minute session is $135. Although Nicole does not accept insurance for her services, she can provide a bill to submit to insurance for potential reimbursement. Clients should contact Nicole for questions about coverage; it may also be helpful to reach out to the insurance company ahead of treatment to determine out of network benefits.Â
